Dr. Harry Thomas is the owner and manager of the ranch and sets the harvest goals for the ranch.

Mike Thomas is the Head Guide on the Thomas Ranch. Mike graduated from Angelo State University with a degree in Animal Science/Range and Wildlife Management.

Patrick Thomas is the other guide on the ranch and graduated from Angelo State University with a degree in Animal Science/Range and Wildlife Management as well.

Dr. Thomas bought the ranch in 1972 as a place to raise Brangus cattle and hunt with his boys. Through the years, he tried many times to persuade his neighbors to join him in quality deer management and was never successful. In 1993, a high, game proof fence was built and a deer management program was implemented. In 1996, The Thomas Ranch built a very comfortable log cabin to house clients and Trophy Hunts were begun.

The Thomas Ranch adheres to a very sound deer management program. We have never imported deer to the ranch nor have we participated in breeding programs. We simply keep the total numbers below the carrying capacity of the land, maintain a 1.5 to 1 buck/doe ratio, cull the inferior bucks and allow the superior bucks to reach maturity.

We limit the number of Trophy Hunters to two per year. Our focus is providing a memorable experience as well as the opportunity to take a trophy buck.
